For five years I babied my left hip with arthritis. When it become too troublesome I sought to get it corrected with a hip replacement. Many friends said it would greatly improve my day to day life. An orthopedic doctor recommended that I consider an anterior procedure over a posterior procedure, as having fewer restrictions, less complications, and a quicker recovery. That doctor recommended seeing a surgeon that routinely performs the anterior method as having the best chance of a successful operation. That referral went to Dr. Justin Sherfey, with AVORS Medical Group. He maintained offices in Santa Clarita and Lancaster. His easy demeanor was reassuring, as he explained what would happen, and a timeline for recovery. His office scheduled a class through the Hospital (Providence - Holy Cross) that explained in greater detail what my wife and I could expect on the day of my surgery. He stopped by bedside pre-operation, to reassure, and answer any last minute questions we might have. The operating room was a flurry of activity, and a drug induced blur. My return from post recovery to my room was quick. The medical support Providence provided, was a big factor in being released by late afternoon. With the help of a walker I was able to experience Central Park the day after my operation. On day three I graduated to a cane, on day 5, I was on my own. Every day since I’ve seen improvement. All of this I credit to Dr. Sherfey, his skills, and the anterior method he specializes in. --Pat H.

So I came back to AVORS a week ago. Once again it was easy to make an appointment, however, on my appointment day, Dr. Sherfey had an emergency surgery. The staff got a hold of me right away and made a new schedule in a weeks time.
On my new appointment day, having arrived 12 minutes prior, I was called in right away and I was taken in a room. There I waited a about 15-20 before Dr. Sherfey came in to see me- I was then examined and everything went smoothly with my visit.
Dr. Sherfey was caring and concerned like the last time I saw him.

I called and got an appointment with Dr. Sherfey the very next day, who sent me for immediate x-rays in the same building, then gave me a choice between medical cream and natural cream to relieve the pain, then sent me for a massage by Saya(Song Bird), who is also excellent, and then to a chiropractor--all in office. I am very happy with Avors. Nobody else does it like this. All this happened within 48 hours time.

Dr. Sherfey is great and explains everything thoroughly, as well as the office staff. The only downside which has been frustrating is that he is only in Valencia every two weeks for 3 hours. That, along with my insurance taking a long time for authorizations, has pushed back my care quite a bit so everything is happening very slowly.

I needed full knee replacement and of course I was real scared about the surgery thinking what was going to be I had for me the rest of my life. Dr. Justin Sherfey has been amazing from the day I met him before the surgery until now while I am going through my rehab. Before I went into the operating room he took a load of me by us praying together but the most important thing is that even a real honest with me. He told me what I was going to go through with the rehab. And he has been right on for the first month. I am walking around doing stairs running in place doing a ski machine at 3 and 1/2 Weeks. He was honest about the pain that I  was going to go through so that when I am feeling it I was warned ahead of time. Nothing was hidden from me. Surgery day it was all a positive experience made by the doctor and everyone they got involved with me every one of the nurses the anesthesiologist and everyone that participated with me that day. I would recommend this doctor and his staff did anyone that asks me.

Dr. Sherfey is by far the absolute best orthopedic surgeon I have ever had the pleasure of being treated by. I grew up a multi sport athlete and have seen many ortho doctors through out my life and cannot find enough positive things to say about him. He listens to your concerns, examines your injuries and complaint areas thoroughly and then comes up with a treatment plan with the patients best interests in mind. I personally find doctors like him hard to come by these days. I highly recommend him.

My husband was in a really bad accident in July of this year Dr. Sherfey was the Doctor who performed the first surgery which required hardware in his ankle after that surgery Dr Justin Heller performed all 6 surgery's which required skin graphs at the beginning it didn't look good at all they were talking amputation it was awful my husband had such trauma to his foot and leg from a semi truck which ran over his leg and foot which crushed it well as of today November 2017 my husband is healing but was able to keep his foot because of Dr.Heller . He will have weeks of physical therapy but he is walking. Dr. Heller took his time on each surgery he truly is the best ! I would want this team of Doctors on my side if I would ever need this type of help . We live in corona and would drive 168 miles round trip to see him it was way worth the drive to have such a great team who put my husband back on his feet .. and the staff goes without saying they are the greatest always there to help or just to see how you are doing . I just can't say enough!!

I have been seeing Dr. Sherfey at AVOR. What I like very much about them is that the staff are all attentive to scheduling which is critical with insurance types and more so when in the middle of insurance change. As long as they receive the information in advance and ample time like they did, things went smoothly.

Dr Sherfey performed hip replacement surgeries on both of my hips. I had no complications with either surgery. Dr Sherfey uses the anterior surgery so the surgery and recovery are much easier on the patient than the posterior approach. I waited an hour to be seen however I was a same day add on when everyone else was closed for COVID19 or had a two week waiting list for a fracture!!!! I read the response where someone was mad they had to wait for an hour and an half but they get in same day instead of waiting for weeks... Pull up your ego pants and get a reality check. I got seen same day!!! I was extremely thrilled that my fracture was added onto an already busy day and heck yes I will wait to get added onto surgery in two days and repaired!!!! He was so kind and answered all of my questions. Can't speak highly enough for a great experience and for adding me a normal person onto a busy schedule to get treated promptly with corrective surgery when everyone else was closed or wanted a fracture to wait two weeks before being seen... AVORS all the way!!!! I will wait hours to be seen by the ones who know what they are doing!!!!
