National Certified Nurses Day

Do you know a nurse? It’s likely that you do have a nurse in your life, someone who might be quite adept at taking care of people on the job, but might be a little less likely to take any guff from anyone on the streets or in real life. Funny how that works out, right?

They work hard. They take care of people. They’re nurses.

Today, 19 March 2018 marks National Certified Nurses Day. AVORS Medical Group would like to congratulate our nurses, both at our own facility and out there in the world. It’s time to put a smile on a nurse’s face and acknowledge what they do for us on a daily basis.

What is NCN Day?

The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses states that NCN Day is a national recognition that honors important achievements of the nursing specialty at large.

This includes both subspecialty and advanced practice certification. It’s a fantastic opportunity to thank certified nurses for their contributions to society, their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence.

Certifications Might Include:

  • Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN)
  • Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (PPCNP-BC)
  • Orthopaedic Clinical Nurse Specialist (OCNS-C)
  • Orthopaedic Nurse (ONC)
  • Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner (ONP-C)
  • Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CCRN)

The list goes on and on.

What’s a Certified Nurse?

A Certified Nurse distinguishes themselves by graduating from a nursing program, meeting the specific requirements which are outlined not just by country, but by a state, province, and similar licensing bodies where nurses obtain their nursing license.

Registered nurses also set themselves apart by being healthcare professionals who are educated and trained, providing health promotion, as well as maintenance — all through diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses, chronic conditions, injuries, and assisting in implementing rehabilitation.

It’s a rapidly growing profession. There were 2,751,000 nurses in the US in 2014 alone. Nursing is projected to grow by 16% by 2024, much faster than the average world overall rate.
