For eight years she worked in the cardiac observation unit at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. When she became a nurse practitioner, she worked 13 years at the Sepulveda VA Primary Care Unit in Los Angeles, where she received numerous recognitions for her “unwavering commitment to patients and staff,” and her “exemplary patient care.”
Maria joined AVORS in 2013 and works closely with AVORS’ doctors on all aspects of patient care in musculoskeletal disorders, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations, whether at the office or at sub-acute rehabilition areas in local nursing homes. She is an expert at motivating patients, as well as educating them about preventative care and prescribed treatments.
She holds a BSN degree (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) and an MSN degree (Master of Science in Nursing) from UCLA in Los Angeles.
For many years, Maria was a preceptor for UCLA Nurse Practitioner students, acting as a role model and mentor. Today, she finds time to do volunteer work as a teacher’s aid at a local elementary school, where she works with students in speed reading and speed math testing.
In her spare time, Maria especially enjoys spending time with her husband and son on their family day-trips. She also enjoys antiquing, gardening and baking.
