Dr. Sherfey is a leading board certified orthopedic surgeon in the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valleys.  He performs primary and revision joint replacements, sports medicine for the professional and recreational athlete, and complex trauma and fracture surgeries.  His expertise in the latest techniques and surgical skills are highly sought after, and he treats patients from all over southern California.

Dr. Sherfey was the first Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine to be recognized by the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians in Canada.  This groundbreaking accomplishment has allowed D.O. to be recognized not only in Canada but internationally.

Dr. Sherfey graduated at the top of his class at Western University of Health Sciences and completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. There he worked under two of the best known joint replacement surgeons in the world; Dr. Cecil Rorabeck and Dr. Robert Bourne.  Dr. Sherfey is extensively trained in the latest techniques of minimally invasive and computer assisted joint replacement surgery, as well as various alternative replacement options.

Dr. Sherfey also had the opportunity to treat high level professional athletes.  He trained under the team physicians in Michigan for the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions. He also trained in Massachusetts under the team physicians for the Boston Celtics, and Boston Red Sox.

Dr. Sherfey performs anterior hip replacements and outpatient joint replacements of the hip, knee and shoulder.  Using the newest and most innovative muscle sparing techniques and pain control methods, most of Dr Sherfey’s joint replacement patients go home the same day.  Due to his expertise, experience and fellowship training, Dr. Sherfey is referred patients from throughout California with complex issues and cases with complications from previous surgeries.  He can help solve these difficult issues and get you back to life and function.

Dr. Sherfey is a partner at AVORS Medical Group, which is a highly respected and successful multi-specialty practice with offices in Lancaster and Valencia.  He is cofounder of Embassy Surgery Center, a state of the art surgery center in Lancaster. There, he performs minimally invasive sports surgery and outpatient total joint replacements.  

Dr. Sherfey is also a leading expert in nonsurgical treatment options.  He offers PRP and stem cell treatments. These are performed in his office and surgical center.  He can recommend therapy, bracing, or CBD nutraceutical based medications as an alternative, and most of these services available right at his office.  

Dr. Sherfey, his wife Debrah and their two children, enjoy many outdoor and sporting activities including basketball, volleyball, hiking, golf and traveling. Both of Dr. Sherfey’s children have excelled in their sport to play at the university level. “I understand the need to get back in the game; from the professional level, to the multi sport teen athlete, to the weekend warrior.”
